Bonnie Gibson is an accomplished artist in
many forms of 3 dimensional arts and fine crafts. Completely
self-taught, she has gained recognition and awards for her work
in wood carving, scrimshaw, and scale miniatures as well as
trying her hand at many other art forms.
"I discovered gourds quite
by accident a few years ago, and immediately fell in love with
them! Working with gourds allows me to utilize the skills that
I've developed over the years working with other media. I have
lived in
Arizona for almost 30 years, so interpreting some of the Native
Cultures and Southwestern designs is a favorite subject of mine."Bonnie
utilizes many tools and techniques to reach a finished design.
Carving, woodburning, painting and inlays of stone make for
striking accents to the overall design. Each gourd is a one-of-a-kind
creation.
